NOTE: On the CD edition song SEVEN NIGHTS TO ROCK is replaced with MOONLIGHT RIDER. Gene Taylor (born July 2, 1952) is an American boogie woogie and blues pianist who delivers his music in genuine good time New Orleans style. Taylor picked up his initial piano skills from boogie-woogie pianist neighbors. Around the age of 16 he began working with some of the big names in the West Coast blues scene including Big Joe Turner and T-Bone Walker. In the mid-seventies he joined the James Harman Band and had a stint as pianist also for Canned Heat in the mid 1970's. From 1981 to 1984 he toured with The Blasters, and in 1986 finally recorded his first solo album, Handmade. His The Return of the Formerly Brothers, recorded with Amos Garrett and Doug Sahm in 1987, won a Juno Award the following year. If this wasn't enough Gene Taylor toured also with the late Rick Nelson between The Blasters engagements. In 1993 Gene Taylor joined The Fabulous Thunderbirds, remaining with this internationally acclaimed band until September of 2006. During his almost 14 years with the T-Birds, he toured the world constantly and recorded with the band two studio albums and one live album plus a live DVD. He also played on two of T-Bird leader Kim Wilson's solo CD's. Since 2007, Gene Taylor has been based in Belgium. His new superb album is a result of collaboration with his Finnish touring band featuring Jussi Jo' Buddy Raulamo (guitar), Robban Hagnäs (bass), Olli Ontronen (drums) and Downhome King III (drums). BLR 33168 1 (P)(C) Bluelight Records 2013.
