Looking for the Perfect Remix Volume 1 is a highly potent 45 by DJ EFN & K-Def, featuring some of the best MCs, past and present, including Your Old Droog, Reks, Royce The 5'9, OC, Kurupt, King T and Fashawn, across two tracks. DJ EFN is a key player in Miami's hip-hop scene. He was arguably the city's first mixtape DJ, and certainly it's most influential. His mixtapes, featuring exclusives and freestyles from hip-hop's biggest names, made him a power broker in the region and enabled him to move into marketing, clothing, and even movies, with his recent Coming Home series (now airing on Diddy's Revolt TV Network). His new album Another Time (Crazy Hood / Empire / Redef) features appearances from Scarface, Talib Kweli, Juvenile, Kurupt, Killer Mike, Redman and Ras Kass, among many others. While his album stands on it's own as a complete work, EFN did not hesitate when the opportunity to connect with the legendary beatsmith K-Def came about. The results are now available to you in the form of this 45. In the early '90s, a young producer from Jersey by the name of K-DEF was scouted and mentored by none other than the one and only Marley Marl. K spent several years working under Marley at his famous House of Hits studio, where he quickly racked up production credits for the likes of Lords of the Underground, LL Cool J, Real Live, ADOR, Tragedy Khadafi, Da Youngstas, and many more. No doubt K was already a skilled producer when he got the call from Marley, but it is evident that K's time with Marley, working on the big board with superstars and emerging talent like, only further helped him to hone his skills. Fast forward to the present day; K-Def is a masterful producer and while he retains his classic sample chopping and programming abilities, K has taken things a step further than many of his peers from the past, with a new sound is now more polished and refined. The easiest way to sum it up is that K's present day sound is similar to the sonic qualities that could rival the only and only Dr Dre. Revolutionary Ride Music, Selfish
