A VOICE IN THE SKY - Making the record The story of 'A Voice in the Sky' goes back a long time. The oldest song 'Dog-headed Priest' dates back to the year 2000, as mentioned in the lyrics, long before there was a band. In 2009 Frank M. Reeve (vocals) and producer Lobo Panic were catching up, after not having seen each other for a while. Frank was at that point planning to invest a fair amount of money into upgrading his home-studio to eventually record the Spiritspiders' debut album. Lobo suggested not to waste money on making a better demo, but to book studio time and record in a professional environment. The plan was made. René (guitar) and Toni (bass) had previously offered their musical collaboration, Cons (drums) agreed to listen to the demo and maybe play on a few songs. Mycha (guitar) was a natural choice, as he had helped out as the Spiritspiders' guitar player at several unplugged gigs and performed on previous demos. Samy (guitar) walked in on a rehearsal, because his band Drought had just rented the same rehearsal room, and he was unaware of the band schedule. The line-up was complete. The next two years saw the band develop the sound of the album. Taking an acoustic demo and bringing in their manifold influences. All the musicians on the record have their own history and careers in the independent music scene. In March 2011 the band was ready to hit the studio. Come Inside, Dog-Headed Priest, Melancholiae, Cabernet Sauvignon, Antithesis, Monkey Blues, Broken Arrow, Fairytale, Voice in the Sky, Apocalypse Vow, Run My Way (CD Only)
