Home to Seasick Steve, Heavy Trash and Joe Gideon & the Sharks, the stellar label that is Bronzerat Records now adds Gemma Ray to it's cast of up and coming stars. Such is the breathtaking scope of UK singer-songwriter Gemma Ray's new album, 'Lights Out Zoltar!' that it's epic multi-layered sound has, you assume, the dedicated workforce of a full blown orchestra behind it, yet this beguiling mix of pop, country and blues was co-produced at home by Gemma Ray and Michael J Sheehy. Spontaneous and uncontrived, Gemma is a natural product of her influences and while 'Lights Out Zoltar!' is an eclectic work of broad ambition, it never fails to sound anything other than uniquely hers - from the latin-tinged pop noir of 100mph (in 2nd Gear), to the surfed-up swagger of Fist of a Flower, the rollicking shanty-like (You Got Me in A) Death Roll to the mesmeric folk horror of If You Want to Rock and Roll. 100 MPH (In 2nd Gear), Snuck a Peek, Tough Love, Fist of a Flower, 1952, (You Got Me in a) Death Roll, Goody Hoo, No Water, Dig Me a River, If You Want to Rock and Roll, Something Shifted, So Do I
