Bolivia is the debut album by the Düsseldorf-based band, The 23's. With The 23's, Karaoke Kalk is putting forward yet another hitherto unknown project. And still the first notes already sound strangely familiar - not a familiarity that originates from a sound that you have heard a million times before but rather some sort of heimatgefühl (trans. 'homeland feeling'), evoked by the free performing of music that embraces all it's varieties in spite of depending on preconceived sound worlds. Take a look at the cover of Bolivia and already you'll be finding yourself fully absorbed and looking for clues. Hmm, let's see... 'a great escape,' 'ultra chilled electronics,' 'subliminal,' 'a soundtrack album...' these are words you'll give yourself up to all too willingly from the first track of the album to the last.
