From the late eighties until the end of the 90s, Toronto band The Truth Hurts produced music that spanned a range of styles from jangly guitar rock to synth pop. Admittedly, not what one might call an expansive range, but it was usually all at once and occasionally with a hint of funk sneaked in. Alleged versatility aside, the common thread running through all of their material is a tongue-in-cheek melancholy expressed as much in the music as it is lyrically.
