Terry Hamilton grew up in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky just off the beaten path of US Highway 23 also known as Country Music Highway. He grew up listening to the same blend of gospel,country and bluegrass music as some of his musical idols like Keith Whitley,Dwight Yoakam,Ricky Skaggs and Tom T.Hall all of whom hail from this same area of the country.
