After 18 years in european exile with only european recordings, BAD LOVE was his first American album after 1976's Motown - production Night Life. Produced by the celebrated Jim Gaines (whose other work includes Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughn and the Steve Miller Band), the album was recorded in March and August 1993 at the Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, (with local studio musicians and the legendary Memphis Horns).
