Limited double180gm colored vinyl LP pressing including bonus tracks and an etching on Side D. Their 1987 In The Dutch Mountains LP contains several hits, but the song that brought the band to the attention of an international audience was it's title track. The Nits is a Dutch art-pop-rock group, founded in 1974 in Amsterdam. Their musical style has varied over the years, as has their line-up, but the core members are lead singer and lyricist Henk Hofstede, Robert Jan Stips on keyboards (worked with Supersister, Gruppo Sportivo, The Golden Earring) and Rob Kloet on drums. There seems little doubt that if they weren't so geographically challenged, Nits would be on par with bands like XTC and Prebaf Sprout. Few bands can match their stamina: how many other bands can claim to be reinventing themselves after 30 years and 20 albums? Yet, the Nits are from Holland and furthermore, they quickly made it clear that their only concession to the big outside world would be to sing in English. Also, the Nits specialize in making their latest album sound as little like the last as possible. This has simultaneously guaranteed them a modest, yet stable degree of success across continental Europe, where fans appreciate their integrity and commitment to playing intimate venues. In the Dutch Mountains, J.O.S. Days, Two Skaters, Pelican ; Penguin, In a Play, Oom-Pah-Pah Men, The Panorama Man, Mountain Jan, One Eye Open, An Eating House, The Swimmer, Good Night, Strangers of the Night, The Magic of Lassie, Moon and Stars, Etch
