Limited double180gm colored vinyl LP pressing. The Nits is a Dutch art-pop-rock group, founded in 1974 in Amsterdam. Their musical style has varied over the years, as has their line-up, but the core members are lead singer and lyricist Henk Hofstede, Robert-Jan Stips on keyboards (worked with Supersister, Gruppo Sportivo, The Golden Earring) and Rob Kloet on drums. Few bands can match their stamina: how many other bands can claim to be reinventing themselves after 30 years and 20 albums? The Nits specialize in making their latest album sound as little like the last as possible. This has simultaneously guaranteed them a stable degree of success across continental Europe, where fans appreciate their integrity and commitment to playing intimate venues. Nits produced hits like Nescio, In The Dutch Mountains, and J.O.S. Days. In 1989, The Nits released a live album called Urk, recorded live in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Moscow (but not in Dutch fisher-town Urk). It became the band's greatest commercial album-success, eventually reaching platinum status. Featured on this album are the band's biggest hits like In The Dutch Mountains, J.O.S. Days and Nescio. Also included are many album tracks, sometimes thoroughly re-arranged for their live renditions, thus showcasing their strong live reputation. The Train, Adieu Sweet Bahnhof, J.O.S. Days, Sketches of Spain, In the Dutch Mountains, The Dream, The Swimmer, The House, Two Skaters, Cabins, Nescio, Pelican ; Penguin, Telephone Song, Dapper Street, Port of Amsterdam, Bike in Head, Mountain Jan, Walter ; Connie, Touch of Henry Moore, The Bauhaus Chair, Under a Canoe, Shadow of a Doubt, Mask, Home Before Dark, The Panorama Man, Slip of the Tongue, An Eating House, Red Tape, Tons of Ink
